Labor Day weekend is a great time to hit the beach, but if you plan to head for the water Saturday, avoid Crandon Park Beach in Miami-Dade and parts of Hollywood beach in Broward. High bacteria levels found in both locations are keeping swimmers out of the water. Some beach lovers were confused by the spotty use of warning flags resulting in some people swimming while others stayed out of the water.

A Hollywood man was arrested and charged with child abuse after heallegedly threatened to zap an elementary school child with a stun gun. It happened Wednesday afternoon outside Oakridge Elementary on North 28th Avenue.
JoseGuerrero Sr., 66, apparently went to the school as the students werebeing let out to confront an 11-year-old who was having problems withhis son.
